1986 90 rear disc axle conversion

Hi guys, am hoping to carry out this conversion but I need more I info on how to do the conversion. What axle, donor vehicle etc
Any helpful information about this would be very good thanks

Where are you Ollie? I have a good 24 spline rear axle complete from hub to hub near Leicester. Not looking to get rich off it, PM me if interested.

Any disco 1 or defender rear axle will fit. Most people seem to prefer 24 spline (found in 300tdi onwards) Apparently you can fit a RRC axle but I have no experience of this myself

Ok so any newer rear axle from a newer defender say 300Tdi or td5 will fit? With some spline conversions?

Looking to do this myself, what is the issue with splines compared to earlier axles? Why is 24 preferable? Is there any way to simply bolt on the brake assembly to existing axle? Sorry if this is a dumb question but i'm sure someone can probably shed some light instantly on this cheers

No spline conversion needed. some 24spline disco axles e.g. 300tdi have a 3 bolt output flange instead of the standard 4 bolt. you can either fit the flange from your old axle or buy a new one (about £35) I chose the latter option when i fitted disco axles as my old flange was pretty mangled.
