Hi all I know this might sound a bit dumb but I have had my freelander 2002 for over a year now and love it, after getting a puncher and having to use my spare 225/55r17 that I could not drive on as the size is different to the tyres I have on, the 4 wheels are the size 235/55r17, I know you can't run on different size tyres got tyre repaired now back on car, I looked up tyre sizes said mine should be 225/55r17 would I be able to put 16" alloys on as better range in tyres. My car is the es td4 model. Thank you

Yes 16" rims from a post 2001 Freelander will fit without an issue. You'll find that you get slightly less turn in with 16" rims, but there are a wider range of tyres available in 215/65/16.
Myself, I'd stick with 235/55/17 and fit Pirelli Scorpion STRS or Michelin Latitude Cross. Both are good, long lasting and grip well on all surfaces.
