Afternoon

Recently bought a TD4 Sport '04 model and with winter on the horizon and plans to spend a bit more time off road than I first thought I just wanted to check that I can fit a set of 15" Freelander alloys to it with some AT tyres without issue?

Will fit them over winter months and keep the nice 18" wheels and brand new tyres tucked away until the Spring all being well.

Cheers

You can fit any size alloys you like as long as they come from a 2002 or newer freelander as they increased the brake disc size.

If you check the other posts today re tyres you see that AT tyres are not necessarily the best tyre for snowy conditions.

I posted a chart showing which tread pattern was best for which surface and if you are not going off road you do not need AT tyres.

Pic up a set of 16" rims as they should fit all models and there are plenty of tyre options ;)

I agree totally with Nodge that there is a much bigger choice of tyres in 16" size.

However the rims must come from a 2002 or newer Freelander.

Early wheels will hit the calipers of the larger disc brakes which were fitted to all models after the introduction of the TD4 and the V6 engines.

Reckon £50 the lot, collected.

They have used Michelin Synchones on that need changing.
I was gonna put some chunky tyres on for the Winter, but ended up putting Pirelli Scorpions on my 16" rims instead.

Thanks for all the replies, didn't get notifications of the responses which is weird?!?!? Anyway I am glad I asked, so I need 16" post 2001 alloys is that right???

Click on "user cp" at the top of the forum and select "edit option" from the list on the LHS. In the "default fred subscription mode" option select "instant email notification" option un save it.

Some email providers block forum update emails as they see them as spam as silly peeps report them as spam.

Thanks Hippo you a legend will change it right away! Trying to find some 16" alloys is easier said then done! Loads of individiual wheels on eBay which isn't much help and a few sets either with decent price and no freight or high price plus freight!

Although the biggest choice of tyre is in 16" size, I eventually went for 17" as I found the tyres I wanted for winter (Conti4X4Contact) and found the wheels on eBay - without freight - which I arranged myself easily

Freight costs are not exhorbitant - check Paisley Freight, who specialize in transporting wheels and tyres - usually with next day delivery at no or little extra cost.
