I am lookin to buy a 12v heater to help with demisting/defrosting mi screen int winter, has anyone got one in there motor and are they any good? seen 300w one on e by gum bay. Tar.

i got one when me jag heater core wur fooked, just till i got me new un and got it fitted.
it wur crap but then it wur only 10euros , about 6 of your fine english pounds

300 watts at 12 volts is not a not of heat

Watts = volts times amps

so

AMPS = Watts divided by volts

so amps = 300 / 12 or so = 25 amps.

25 amps is plenty lots of current for all the good it's going to do you.

Stay clear seems to be the advice from all the common experiences.

was given one of them heater thingies by previous owner who seemed to swear by it. Never got round to fitting it yet as i've never really needed it. The heater seems to be ok as far as i can tell, but I drive with the window down in most weathers apart from pishin rain, then it's only slightly down;) :D

Assuming the thermostat works and the engine gets up to heat and the heater matrix isn't choked and the fan runs, the Defender heater is fine.

Run it all the time full hot, and divert the heat to the screen if you get too hot.
