In my youth I used to have a little pathology museum of bits taken out of cars. Pistons that had welded themselves into cylinders, bearings where the case hardening had flaked off the rollers and so on. We had some gears with stepped teeth as well, out of a Triumph Herald diff. We also used defunct motor car components as building materials. Cylinder heads make quite good cornerstones in stone walls for example, and diff mechanisms are good as finnials on top of gateposts.

I really like those ideas! I've done the same with a few bits, stub axles with seized bearings make for nice lamps and old brake discs make for half decent shallow plant pots! Currently turning some leather seating from a 90s Merc into indoor seating, fun project for this week!

Was a bit worse for wear over the weekend so didnt reply much! My time at Xcess4x4 was so easy, simple and actually enjoyable!

They really know their stuff and after a good chat I've totally changed my drive train set up. Eventually will go for a pegged 4pin open front diff with HD CVs/Shafts/flanges, no TX box ATB but HD cross pin instead. Probably stick with standard shafts/flanges on the rear as so easy to change so so cheap it doesnt seem worth it. Plus at least way if something is going to go back its a £40 shaft not a diff/TX/GB etc...

After Friday If I need any diff work done it will be by Xcess. The attention to detail is phenomenal the build quality is equally good. That said I havnt got the bastard on the road yet as I ran out of oil and no one local had any!!

He did have this old school beast -

Brand new, never fitted Torsen diff! Never even bolted up!

Oils in! Test drive done!

Feels exactly the same to drive but the horrid noise is gone! Though I can hear a slight whirr from somewhere else...

Hopefully all will quiet down once everything beds in/warms up properly.

As always thank you everyone :)
