Hi, I am about to implement varius anti theft methods to my 110. A battery isolation switch will be one of them as a starting point. I was going to fit a couple of high security key switchs that will isolate the fuel pump supply and the starter motor ignition power. All good mesures.

However i do have a top of the range alarm system I could put on it which will do one or both the fuel and starter isolation once alarm is set. The problem maybe is that if the battery isolator is set to the off position then I would have to power the alarm from before the isolator so that it would still operated once the battery isolator is set to off.

Has anybody done this or tried it to see if it works? I was wondering if it will still do everything I want it to with the main power to the ignition isolated. Most alarm systems use the load side of the ignition once armed or so I believe.

I dont think the alarm would operate correctly with the battery isolator set to off, the headlighrts and horns would probably not operate even though I think I would achieve the isolation to starter & fuel pump?

Not worth fitting the alarm if the horn and lights don't flash.

What do you think?

Regards

SC

how will your super security measures deal with a hi-ab equipped low loader - or neighbors and passers by who ignore a sounding alarm

if they want it they'll take it - just make sure it's will insured mate

Theres no real answer to a hi-ab, a tracker may find it a bit quicker. It's really to stop the opportunist knobheads who fancy nicking a landy for a bit of fun when the've had a can of stella and wan to do a quick ram raid

sound advice from sean there mate. a chip luvving rat from this forum once gave a rather sound bit of advice re security. 'get a disclock, turn your steering to full lock and lock it there, apply disclock. walk away and enjoy a pint comfortable in the knowledge that if anyone is going to try and nick it, it will be a right pain in the ass :D

I just ordered a disklok as well but you know what it's like, you want to make things as difficult as possible. Trouble is then though it takes longer getting going, i suspose thats better than walking home with your keys still in your pocket fuming.

if they can't start it they'll just trash and burn it, leave the doors open and the keys on the drivers seats - least you've got some chance of getting it back in one piece

or in numerous pieces off ebay

I used to leave my S3 like that most days but nobody would look at it and it was a beast.

I just park mine outside my local car theifs house, unlocked and keys in ignition. Saves a lot of hassle:D

Ive actually installed a telescopic security post, disklok and pedal lock. Got a ground anchor and chain for when I leave it parked up for holidays etc. Its a right pain in the arse to be honest!

Now you see it..
