110 re-engine with Disco 200/300 Tdi?

Hi all



I have been looking to re-engine my 2.5NA 110 with a Tdi engine, but I keep finding that the Defender Tdi engines seem to go for a lot more than a similar mileage / spec Discovery engine. (50-100% more!)

I know that the turbo is mounted higher in the Defender but are the any issues which make it difficult to fit anyway?

Has anyone here tried it, or heard of it?

Ive had to get a Defender engine for my 88 90 county and with the converstion kit it , mounts up to £2000!!!

They seem to fetch alot more, your right im told they are bomb proof engines..

I have heard that the Disco 200Tdi turbo being lower, hits on the inner wing etc and that you end up needing a custom down pipe. But I have no hard evidence.
I have also heard that there is ‘no difference’ between the Disco and Defender 300Tdi engine but that I would need to move the engine mounts as well as get a R380 gearbox.
Does anyone know if this is true? Particularly the 'no difference' bit?

I have asked alot of people bothe breakers and people who fitted boths they say that the Disco will not fit it as you say without those mods you speak of i manged to get a converstion kit to fill LT Gearbox which come with Intercooler Rad and all pipes so not bad.

I am looking forward to fitting now and also pretty desperate as i am having to to still run the knackerd engine work each day and each day it sounds worse but i keep oli level higher than norm to combat.
