As I'm new to this forum, i'm posting this thread for anyone to read who loves 101's.:)

As I have previously explained, we (sister,Bro-in-law and myself) have recently aquired a 101, prototype no8 no less!.:D
What a Job we are having with her! 25 minutes into her leaving the Garage of the person we bought her off, she did a reasonably good impersonation of a steam engine when the Radiator hose blew!!! (yes we were the ones you were laughing at outside of Chester) 24 hours later the Rescue service finally dropped her off at our place.:(

Am I coming to a point with this drivel, I hear you ask? well if anyone can can give us any pointers on any other problems we may encounter whilst restoring her, can you let us know so we can avoid them

Sorry I still can't upload any pictures of her at present, but she looks like a rather neglected bin wagon:eek: !so I think I will try not to shock those easily frightened:rolleyes:

Wish us luck,

Sledgehammerdog.

if you check out the news group on this forum, alt land rover, seems to be a lot of people well into their 101,s check it out and welcome:D

From Sledgehammerdog:

Thanks for the advice so far folks, but having trouble finding replacement Radiator hoses (Scarcer than hens teeth!) gotta fit a Landrover V8 engine for a 101. Preferably any supplier in N.W. Wales area, and must be in very good (if not new) condition. HELP!

Yours Sledgehammerdog

you could try demon tweeks , they do a range of coolant pipes ,silicone flexible ones. they also have pre bent ones that you can use to fabricate what ever shape you need. of course they ain't original but as long as it keeps the coolant in do you really care??

Sorry to take so long on an update folks.

We got the radiator hoses, finally, and installed them last February.

To shreiks of "It's alive, ALIVE! I tell you....!" she started first go. Roaring into life with the sound only Landies can make. (anyone else get a buzz from hearing their landrover startup?)

Not bad for a 37 year old vehicle.

Can't post any pictures of her on this site as they won't Download. But If you want to see her, we hope to be at 'Maes Artro' in march (near Barmouth in Wales) for the Militairy vehicle display. Since we only live 15 minutes from the site, it won't be so far to have to push it back!

Thanks for reading & the Assistance.

Sledgehammerdog. "They only criticise Landies 'cos they can only Fantisize about owning one"

From Sledgehammerdog:

Sorry to report folks but the Powys and Mid wales Military Vehicle Trust meeting at Maes Artro has been cancelled. Will try to keep you updated as to further displays the Group will be attending.

As to our 'troublesome' 101 only a few more weeks to go before she hits the road again.

Thanks for reading, SledgehammerDog
