Solid orange engine management light

We plugged her in to code read but it fails to connect, local garage also could not get her to connect. Does anyone have any suggestions as to where I can go from here? If you can't connect to the vehicle, take the trim around the socket off and check it's not a dummy socket or some of the pins haven't backed out. If all OK, then try a battery disconnect/reconnect.
