Well I bought a Witter kit from Ebay and its been... emotional.

A towbar isnt exactly hard to figure out but my god if you had no idea, the instructions that came with this kit would lead you to a breakdown. After tearing the majority of the boot out I managed to get access to the four bolts each side that hold on the bumper. No mention of the two under the arch that need to come out. Managed to get the bumper down without having to disconnect the parking sensors.

The majority of the kit is one long bar that holds the towball and a left and right side supports. Well the bolts that are already meant to be in the chassis were not. After not being able to get M16's to fit, I got a hold of M18 fine thread and M20 fine thread bolts. Could not get these through the towbar bolt hole, tried a few UNC bolts but nothing fit. Does anyone know the bolt type? Does the towbar kit need modified to fit?

The single electric's that were supplied with the kit is totally unsuitable. I found the tow plug and noticed all the lives and figured out what was what. I wired in a relay to the main lights, rest I wired straight into the connector as they'd only be used intermittently and wouldnt cause much heat. Earthed it and job done. When I got to test it, sh*t went down. The centre console screen cut out and all sorts of lights started flashing on the dash. The warning lights stopped once the trailer was disconnected, the status bar still flashes though.

Since spotted I need the plug'n'play kit.

Anyone any advice?

Never bodge the wiring on an L322, it could turn out to be very expensive. I would reject the towbar as "Not Fit Fot Purpose" and get a decent LR approved one.

Sorry for the prefix, I have Evoque on the arse of it. Im a Disco guy.

Ive found the LR electrics, just a case of plug'n'play. The towbar itself seems rather well made and fitment didnt require much fettling. Its the electrics that have let it down. I've emailed the seller as he's said it was suitable for the vehicle when its clearly not.

When I stripped down the right side off the boot I thought 'wow thats a fair loom running in there'. Imagine what I thought when I stripped the right side and saw Johnny 5 butchered and bolted in there.

If you bought a genuine Landrover towbar electrics kit it would have been a 2 second plug in jobby.

You should have done it this way as it includes an additional ECU for the trailer electrics so they work correctly with the LCM and also as it inhibits the EAS height changes when a trailer is connected

God no!!!

Take it all off and buy LR kit.

Electrics are plug and play and the mechanical bit is totally easy also..

My suggestion is to take it all off and return.

Get LR kit. It is super expensive from LR but you can get them off ebay.

If your happy enough with the mechanical fitment you can get the electrical kit new fro about £130..

best of luck...
