Hello I'm new to the forums, I purchased a 2000 freelander commercial to use occasionally for work, 108k on the clock L series engine, I work laying pipelines and hydrants for farmers and sometimes need to access fields.

I noticed that mine doesn't have HDC or traction control and I just wanted to ask if it is possible to fit the system, I have access to 2 other freelanders a family member is parting out. Has anyone done this before? Is hill descent control worth it? I guess it makes up for not having a low range gearbox and would be helpful to me for pulling pipe out on jobs.

I also shut the passenger door a bit hard and now the window isn't functioning I used to work as a strip fitter in a crash repair centre so in guessing it's the plastic clips that hold the glass to the regulator, does anyone know where to get replacements?

I'm also looking to block off the EGR valve and put a decat on to liven it up a little bit.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Buy a egr removal kit

As for hdc tc and abs I wouldn't have a freelander without them if you want to add them you would need the wiring loom for abs hdc and tc then there's the sensors and switches and ecus

Would be easier to get another freelander

Hill descent control won't help you at all pulling trailers etc out into fields. It purely stops the car from going out of control down steep slippy hills. YouTube has a few videos on it from landrover

Traction control would help but I would first off suggest you buy a good set of all terrain tyres. They are what makes a difference

Thanks for the quick replies, I'll look into a set a modular steel wheels with AT tyres first then, I do have an old workhorse defender if I get into trouble but normally it's just flat fields with a bit of mud so hopefully decent tyres will be enough!

Traction controls is good but careful driving and good tyre choice will get you out of most trouble.
If your often on farmers fields get yourself some mud tyres, maybe some all terrain if you do more road miles.

If your thinking of buying new you could go for 205/80/16 and get a 1" lift

That's assuming you have 16" wheels... I can't remember the size off hand for 15"
