some great posts:D....seriously tho I think its a middle'class' problem this hatred.....hate our 4x4's 'cos we'er perceived as working class scum & hate big shiny 4x4's 'cos they envy their wealth?

i live in devon where most of the roads you need a 4x4 just to drive down safely, anyway i always drive consideratly pulling over to let people pass (seem to spend most of my time in reverse in these lanes) letting people pull out in traffic etc,had this lad in his vauxhall corsa wind down his window and moan about us f@$%**g 4x4 owners always in the way and pi***ing people off.earlier this year we had quite a bit of snow down here and on my way to work low and behold who did i see stuck in a drift you got it mr. corsa t**t but owing to my good nature i pulled him out. on doing so he thanked me very much repeatedly only to say those things are great and that he really must get one!!!! funny how peoples attitude change isn't it (and the same goes for the other 4 people i towed out as well) shoul have charged them all!!

If we collectively as the human race halved our rate of consumption of oil, would that save the plannet, or would it just mean that the oil would last twice as long? If the oil is used up in a 100 years time, will the earth be in a better state than it would be if it was all used up within 50 years?

I think the idea is not to use up as much oil in the hope that we will find a way of producing energy that is nicer to the environment before it runs out.

i see a trend,
1, most of us at some point have been told " whats the ****in point in you driving that big gas guzzler covered in mud" by a tosser in a 1.1 or lower eco car that cost millions to produce and will be poluting fer years to come !
2, i have always driven a landrover, nawt posh always ex army series 2's 90's etc . never had a car, people i kno with cars , be it a merc, audi ford what ever, every 3 weeks it seems to be down the garage for something to be done! and then they moan, oh my whatsit valve and doofer sensor has cost me £489.
well, excuse me, i have never spent that kinda money on a motor, the usual repair costs on a series or early 90 / 110 is a matter of £40 at craddocks and a day covered in oil!

if i have a smash or someone nocks lumps out of my wings, i dunt scrap me motor i find a replacement wing , job done , then it lasts years, same with engines,

was told to move mine once by a snotty ****in woman as she was having family round they made the street look untidy !
the ****in cheek :(

My Stock reply is in 150 years time nobody will remember us so your opinion is pointless.
Further to this it is taxed MOT'd and insured-I'll park it where I like.

I think the problem is that pumping oil out of the ground and burning it is relatively so much easier than any other kind of energy production that the temptation will always be too great to keep on using it, until it runs out, rather than just leaving it in the ground for ever and switching to alternative energy sources.

I can't see that using waste vegetable oil helps the situation much either. Consiter the following: You have a gallon of WVO and a gallon of diesel. Does it make much difference to the amount of carbon you release into the atmosphere if you (A) burn the diesel and pour the WVO into the ground, or (B) Pour the diesel back into the ground and burn the WVO?

and do we really care:p the earth has been warming up since the last ice age, tis how we got out of the last ice age lol;) chances are we'll get wiped out of existance sooner or later by some natural phenomenon so bollix to it I'm going to drive my petrol guzzling landy like it's my last day on earth just in case:D

And in 10,000 years when the world starts to cool, people (if they're still here) will be pushing everyone to get into big 4x4's and try to get the earth as warm as possible :D

Scientists do know that it's a cycle, but it's happening a lot faster than normal. Pointless really as the earth WILL cool down again.

One of my neighbours has a fleet of motorbikes, is a complete petrol head and is happy to spanner with me, one of my other neighbours leads the local neighbourhood watch. Guess which one complained about my Disco being on axle stands and bringing the neighbourhood down with a 'scruffy gas guzzler'? I revved the V8 quite excessively just to **** him off further. He didn't complain when the new Audi arrived in April, that must fit in with his vision of ideal suburbia - tosser!!

they have actually found evidence that the planet mars is undergoing a rapid climate change as well, im just waiting for the goverment to say they have found 4x4's up there and tax us for it.

One funny story is my mate at work had an old shogun he was driving throught a B&Q car park when a women revered straight backwards at speed he beeped his horn for what sounded like hours, thankfully his wheels were on full lock and she hit the tyre instead no damage to him thankfully and she was a lil upset her bumper had bent, there were no arguments at first because she admitted fault, then out of nowhere this hippie runs accross the car park screaming "ill be a witness love i saw what this man did, bloody 4x4 drivers thinking the own the world" without hesitation my mate pulled back his fist and knocked him clean out lol. The women burst out laughing getting back into her car and drove call the hippie a tosser lmao!!. my mate got a £80 fine for disturbing the peace, he answer " for that price ill hit him again"

:D sound !

My landy is used in the forest to get all our wood for our hot water and central heating system - which is therefore carbon-neutral. Now, does that make me less green than someone with a car who uses fossil fuel (gas) to heat thier hot water and central heating? Mind you, at my kids school (it's in a very middle classy area - great when I turn up with my raised 25 year old landy covered in mud! - my daughter thinks it's the coolest thing ever! :) ) there are a couple of immaculate tinted glass, road-tyred Land Rovers, and of course the pretend 4x4 brigade (X5s etc) - now they are a waste of a 4x4 as they won't even put a wheel on the verge!

my landy is used for transporting all my firewood too. Like yourself I have a back boiler to provide all my hot water and central heating. I have a nice economical family car which the missus uses as the daily driver. The landy is used for collecting wood, towing, offroading, load lugging, winter/adverse weather, work etc. If the anti's don't like it thats tough. :)

Maybe Greenpeace should check how much fuel their ship uses in a trip in relation to my landy. Bunch of hippo-critical arse bandits.:mad::mad:
