Oooh, and where from? I know you can buy them from anywhere but what price ish?

What is it per corner, 2 bearings and an oil seal?

I discovered I should really do my rear ones when I changed the disks and pads over

£240 inc VAT for the whole lot from the main dealers. So thats £60 a corner.

I know that someone will be along shortly to say that I have been ripped off, and I could have got ****Part ones for £20 a corner, but I know it is going to be a bitch of a job and I don't want to be doing it again this time next year due to inferior parts.

Discomoneypit it does seem that its a moneypit for the simple reason you do like to go to main stealers. Paddocks do indeed sell timken ones around £7 each or possibly £20 a corner. Timken are Timken nomatter where you get them from and £240 is just silly! Honestly thats mental. Jai

get some of them bendy locking washers as well when you buy the kit. and the first bearing shell you get out, take a slice out of it with yer grinder, it'll help as a drift to get the new ones in.

I prefer to grind down the outter edge half a millimeter that way its still one piece but both ways work just aswell Jai

£240? Bloody nora why get parts like that from a dealer? They're are the same thing I get for £8 at my local indy.

That's bloody ridiculous, no wonder its a money pit if you get all your parts from a dealer.

noooooooo go to paddock and get timken bearings thay are land rover quality (timken make them for land rover) for £7+ vat each

BLOODY HELL!!!!!!!!!!

****Part bearing kit inc VAT, consisting of bearings, hub gaskets, locking nuts, locking washer & hub seals = £60.

For the Timkin bearings, inc VAT and all the gubbins = £76.

Thanks for the heads up chaps. Time to cancel that order from LR.

For many regular serviceable parts (filters etc), my local LR dealer is within a quid or two of the likes of Paddocks. When I take into account how much closer the main dealers is to me than Paddocks, it actually works out cheaper, (main dealer is about 4 mile away, Paddocks about 20).

I honestly didn't expect there to be such a huge differance in the price of bearings.

what ive done is just bought some cheapo ones off ebay for £9 a set and keep them on board just in case ya get stuck whilst off green laneing at least you can repair it and get home ............. oh and dont forget the 52mm socket youll need to remove the locking nuts

I would only buy the Timken ones. Even for spares. They are not much more, but should last much longer. always carry a hub nut spanner, drift bar, chisel and 2 of the old races (1 or both with cut notch) with you along with LM grease and the necc. spares.

Doing it in the field is not much of an issue, as shown below :D
