I was interested to discover that intermittent climate control issues which mimic ye famous blend motor saga, can occur with a HEVAC unit which is slowly losing its mind.......I've just had the three notorious blends replaced with brand new ones and lo and behold a few days later I get what I thought was a temperature blend problem......blasting hot air on drivers side, no matter what temp you set, and the dreaded open book.....next time I started it stuck on cold only, again just drivers side. Between starts, it would clear and run perfectly , no horrid open book, so really was intermittent. I described the problem to Jason the mobile tech, and he duly arrived after 7pm one evening with a HEVAC unit which he knew was fully operational and swopped mine out as a trial...........and it seems to have worked........:clap2:

I know these cars are 10 years old and more but these electronic failures are a right pain not to mention expense:doh::doh: Thank heavens a stealer didn't get anywhere near it!!!

I think I'll just head off to ebay now to list the knackered HEVAC, the old RF receiver and the window switch panel which packed up in the snow:hysterically_laughi

hi RG,have had any probs with the front panel, the part where you control the air con etc.

Yup, thats the one and same thing, the front panel AKA the HEVAC unit. A little electronic box which costs nearly £300 from a stealer and when the circuitry starts playing up , you can get intermittent problems mimicing the traditional blend motor failure when in fact the blends may not be the problem. At least the HEVAC unit just slides out easily like a stereo head unit. Lots of faulty ones do the usual pop up on ebay trick, apparently, so you have to take care. :(:( Luckily, Jason keeps one or two used ones which he knows are in good working order to test systems which play up after blend motors have been changed. I guess stealers would have a field day if someone wandered in ignorantly - it would be several grands worth before you could blink and way more than the retail price of the cars at present!!!!

RG, Am stuck in the middle east with an L322 with same problems you have had, dealer is not much help either, is your mobile guy, Jason, familiar with this model, if so could you please forward his contact number, maybe worth giving him a call, inside of car now looks like a train wreck having removed all dash panels and still no wiser.

Jason has training and experience on L322s as well, so give him a call - I asked him if its ok to put his number up and he's happy with that, so if anyone wants a quote on blend motors or other funny Rangie electronic quirks, I rate him highly, he's been excellent with my Rangie's blends and diagnosis so far and priced in normal ranges, not paying for stealers overseas holidays etc.

Oi, I thought all Rangies were posh:confused: Whats the difference between my climate control main unit and yours? Its the jobbie that fits under the radio slot on the dash.....I know some Rangies don't have heated seats, but I thought the other controls were standard??? Don't tell me there's a Class System present in Rangies as well :D:D Apparently these head units can cause a lot of intermittent nuisance faults which can make the blend motors appear to be playing up when they aren't, so if you've changed blends and you are sure they are working and still have the temperature on blazing hot problem, its likely to be the HEVAC, or control unit.

There are always a few on ebay, but you have to make sure of the provenance of a used one and get a warranty, or you'll just end up buying someone elses knackerooed one in ebays "pass the bu***ered parcel" game, bit like the old RF reciever in new box trick.:eek:

On another note, I was totally gobsmacked to hear that there were MANUAL seats for Rangies, can't imagine the turmoil I'd be in if I had to shift a seat MANUALLY......:violin::hysterically_laughi

How much do you want for it and is it known to be working proper like....PM me if you like, as I'll need to replace Jason's test unit and am not keen on spending mega bucks on a new one as I've spent loads on ebay c**p over the past month!!!:tea:

I'm pleased to say my DSE has only got electric adjustment for height, I can do without all that electrofrickery, just more to go wrong:D:D:D

my dse aint even got that, i got a handle on the side for the height :( its a nice handle tho :D

Good grief, I thought they were all chock full of electric stuff that was programmed to implode at intervals after the age of about a day or so out of warranty onwards......:D mine is a special edition, I suppose that's why it has all the bits of plasticky veneer-wannabe, different seats and bits that go bump in the night :doh: I thought they all had the same/similar spec except the Autobiography jobs and the ultra-specials like the Holland and Holland and Linley, my '99 4.6 SE I thought just had the extra paint job (double coach-line and colour-coded bumpers) and the veneer interior finishes. Live and learn, I guess!!
