yep towbar, 'ang on, i'l have a gander....fookin look at all the bastids waiting to ave a laugh at my expense

I use a towbar arrangement with a socket for a removable towbar/shackle ...

how about a towbar with this (circled).

fixing a shackle onto that should be fine no?as strong as your x member, as strong as your chassis am i rite or am i rite!?

wouldnt put it on there, thats only made to space the up rights and whoever you recovering might end up with it through their window, why not get a combi hitch or another sadle piece with a nato hitch, them type of tow bracket you got there also good for ploughing
 
rite fook that then!i'l buy one that redhand adviced if one like the above shouldnt be used!

Just been out to look at my shackles and towball ... and they don't fit over!

2 1/2 ton (I think) rated, Green coloured bolt ... won't fit onto the neck of either of my three towballs. (1 on my 'normal' removable towbar, 1 on a Ball & pin towbar, 1 a standard plain ball on a standard disco towbar fitment)
