Discovery 2 td5 immobilised

Hi all, PLEASE HELP!!! so my discovery 2 was immobilised. I’ve replaced the bcu linked everything up with nanocom. Got it running and drove it. Pulled back on drive turned engine off, took key out left a few minutes and it’s immobilised again. Managed to get it back working, had my dinner went back out and now nanocom is saying ecu immobilised again. I can now not get it back running. Can anyone give any advice to why this could be doing this please ? I just don’t know what to do or why it keeps immobilising. Thanks in advance

Are you using the fob to unlock it?
What is the little red light on the dash doing?
Have you entered the EKA code ?

No the fob wasn’t working so I’ve replaced it with a new one tried coding it in with nanocom but not registering the key. The red light is flashing and when I put key in the ignition it’s solid red. Yes tried eka not responding ? It has to be a small issue. Is when I seem to take key out of ignition and I’m away from car for a few minutes it re immobilises itself. Thanks

Did you try the correct EKA procedure for the D2? and leave it for 5 minutes after entering it?

How did you get it to start if you have not entered the EKA or used the fob?

Yes tried the right procedure a few times as well. It was originally immobilised. So replaced the bcu programmed it in and it worked. But now when the key is removed from Vehicle for a few minute it re immobilises. I know the new bcu is still working because I can get into it on nanocom but when I go on the td5 engine settings and check status it says my ecu is immobilised. Really confusing me this one. Thanks.

If you dont have a working fob that's what happens, go into BCU settings and set ''passive immobiliser" to disabled but better set alarm to disabled too untill you can program a fob. If you can communicate with the BCU the EKA is useless cos only the ECM is immobilised

this statement makes me think that it happened more times so how did you start it to observe that ?

Hi there, thanks I’ll try that when I get home from work. I’ve got a spare ecu so disconnected the battery changed the ecu over and it demobilised it. Then done the same again to that one. Thankyou.

Yes before hand, then it the same setting that’s where it was telling me ecu immobilised

Also which it being a new bcu do I need to phone Land Rover up to get a the eka code that corresponds with it snd programme that in aswell because it didn’t come with one ? Thanks

You can set what EKA you want with nanocom, preferably composed from small numbers to be easy to insert

So in an ideal world if I change the bcu settings to what you explained it should remobilise the disco? Ah right I’ll set a nice simple one on it then. Cheers.

With alarm disabled it should not immobilise whatsoever and to retain alarm/immobiliser functions you need a working fob... run a RF test maybe the receiver is dead hence you can't program the fob

Ahhh I did do that and I don’t think it established a connection. So does that mean the receiver in roof needs replacing ? Thanks.

Right so I changed all the settings in the bcu to everything you said and unfortunately still immobilised. Any ideas ? Thanks.

What is the message when you set the learn security code to the ECU, does it confirm? cos at this point seems like the data link between the BCU and ECM is interrupted cos it's no way for the ECU to be immobilised as long as the alarm is off

Hi yes it confirmed. It has worked now. I disconnect my battery and reconnected it. Disco then remobilised and all alarm setting that I entered worked. Thanks so much for the help. Fingers crossed it stays like this until I get a new receiver. Thanks again

One more question sorry ... because I’m not using fob for now my petrol cap isn’t releasing when I press the button inside the cab... is there another way to open it so I can fill up ? Thanks.
