thats how i went about it red, use a master switch and yer can just leave it on and activate the lamps off mainbeam, or just not have em on at all.

It's how I've always done it and never had a problem always wired in pairs and always one switch for each pair. never burnt a switch or a relay out and never blown a fuse.

I'd prefer to have a the switch on the low current side rather than inline with the lamps. (especially if you're using standard land rover switches. eg an AMR4138).

Also I think your pin numbering of the relay may be need amending.

Why the relay has 30 85 86 87 terminals on it and it also has an additional 87A terminal because that's what the one in my shed has got. Also I never use Landrover switches for anything. their crap.

Fook knows I just bought it I wouldn't now one end of a relay from another.

I just hate people been fooking picky and trying to say something is wrong because it hasn't been done the way they prefer to do it. In my book it's only wrong if if doesn't work or if it's likely to blowup or catch fire. and as neither of those things are likely to happen if they follow the wiring diagram it int fooking wrong. It's a wiring guide not a techical data & specication sheet. Rant over good afternoon Ian how's things?

All right mate apart from fooking my bak up yesterday, wouldn't mind but i only went to lift a bloody rattle can spray :(

And I agree about people being picky, As long as it it safe there is always more than one way to do any job.

but that was the whole point about the relay pins being numbered wrong, if and it may be a big if someone took your diagram and wired it up as so it may cause an issue. I wasn't being picky just trying to help.

pin 87 is wired to the battery which goes across the switched output on pin 30 which will feed a + to your main beam.

pin 85 comes from your spot lamps and is earthed out on pin 86 (no power from anywhere)

never said anything about 87a being connected either.

Aye once you've ****ed about with the pin numbers it is but in my drawing
pin 30 is the feed from the battery
pin 87 goes to the switched live for the headlamps
pin 86 is earthed
pin 85 carries the live supply via a switch to the spot lamps. so whats the problem.
