Bit late now as it was a few days ago..

But not too bad considering she had been sat inactive for upto 2 years..

On the ramp was one of those moments where you think he's gonna be writing a list.. :rolleyes:

However she passed with only 3 advisories.

Nearside Front Lower Suspension component ball joint dust cover severely deteriorated (5.3.4 (b) (i))
Offside Front Lower Suspension component ball joint dust cover severely deteriorated (5.3.4 (b) (i))

And an Oil leak OBVS :D

Which is the input shaft for the autobox, the seal is weeping. :rolleyes:

shakedown runs show she's no different from when i picked her up, Some TLC would go a long way..

A replacement Morse chain and VCU wouldn't go a miss..

Oh and the final drive units need an oil change..

Apart from that she actually drives, which is odd as most of me expected a fail..

Odd to see her out an about, especially as all the pics i have of her are all at home dong nothing..

'Tis a nice feeling to jump in and go for a drive, it is the only car i've not tired of, all the others are just Machines but this one still feels great..

'tis the only car i look back to when i'm walking away too.. :cool:

Wondering what the rationale is for having such detailed MOT inspections in the UK? Has a serious accident ever been caused by a worn dust boot on a ball joint? Has a ball joint ever failed catastrophically? In British Columbia we have NO vehicle inspections and it has no bearing on our accident rates. Perhaps all the vehicle inspectors are sons of bureaucrats or cabinet ministers?

Correct, in my view some of the reasons for fail these days are bloody ridiculous.

I have seen a lower joint fail on a Triumph Vitess dropping the lower wishbone onto the road and I was passenger in a Citroen Deux Cheveaux when a steering ball joint failed leaving the front wheels pointing in different directions, exciting as we were going round the Arc de Triomphe at the time. the drivers solution was to reverse across the traffic to the pavement, very scary:eek:
Dodgy dust boots are a fail over here

Was that the lower trunion on the Triumph Keith? From memory that was a common occurrence.
 
I remember my triumph 2000 popping a ball whilst traversing goonhilly downs at about 60 mph. It left some huge skid marks on the road (and me underwear come to that) ruined a pair of brand new Pirelli centuratos. :(
 
If it's broke or doesn't look it should when it was built/fabricated, it's broke....
Whether it passes depends on the person doing the inspection.
I'd rather know everything good or bad, so my insurance could never say your vehicle was compromised and it's safe. I see so many "passes" and have very little faith in mot inspectors.
