He has about 3 P38s ready to assemble in the shed. All doozle - the proper engine added by BMW for people to actually drive them everyday not look pretty on paper on the recovery truck.
presuming they get to you before you freeze to death ;)

V8 ain’t manual Grrrr, they will chew the clutches more frequently (all of them), presuming it will get that far before needing overhauling. :( Even more potch to get to something and more electrickery to go wrong. DT’s are bad enough but I chose pre EGR basic for good reason

Curse of the green oval

I will of course support you in whatever decision you make.

I notice you are looking at a lot of V8s lately....
is there something you want to tell us? o_O:rolleyes:;)

Mine is off the road at the moment and I have too much on to find time to fix it so I am half-heartedly looking out for a replacement. Mine is coming up on 160k albeit most of the parts are almost new so a nice low mileage example at the right price might tempt me. I can use mine as spares if the year is similar.

V8. More specifically, V8 on LPG. I look at our government and the direction of travel and think they'll be an all out war on diesel and to a lesser extent old petrol engines before long. LPG though should sidestep that issue. I've looked at more modern cars but they seem overly complex and I just don't have the kit or inclination to pull them apart. So it has to be old technology that can take me tinkering with it. Any car has to last until I stop driving - a decent P38 has a chance.

4.0 came as manual. Single billet for a flywheel and access panel on bell housing so you don't have to take the whole car apart to check the clutch.

However, that manual clutch is ****. HP24 that has had regular oil changes is best bet, preferably with 4 pin diffs.

Mmmm 4pins.....

I see your point. There is a long term game to be played. It had to be Landy for me also, the technology is just about right for durability aswell as fixable on my todd at P38 stage. People have had to stop telling me it couldn’t be done for peanuts, but that’s what being a monkey is all about :D

Surely with your red doozle @MrGorsky will give you a hand? Is Brian far - he is top notch guy like that - pointing, laughing and eating all your custard creams tho ;)

I test drove a 96 SE v8 manual and it pulled like a fookin train..

You could slot it in 5th at 15mph, put ya foot to the carpet and it would pull from that speed right upto 70 without any issue :D

The latter P38 have 4 pin front Diffs, mine has :D

Dropping the box off the back for a Clutch would be a 5 in job. and the Manual V8's can get north of 20mpg, if you can find one ;)

A healthy 4.6 will do 18mpg and on gas which is around 55-67ppl it's the equiv of over 35mpg :D

Go on Grrr a nice Vogue :p

Or early SE :cool::D

MrGorsky has an RV to convert to gas and Euro-spec. Brian is down in the smoke, not far from Dopey I believe. I won't say the shortest time I've made it from Heathrow but you can easily do it in less than an hour. EntropyUK isn't far from me.

It isn't hands I am short of though, it is time. I have so many jobs that need doing before the end of the month.

I do like the look of it. Very you but,

not as nice an example as yours (would you ask £3G for yours?) bit of a Frankenstein if you ask me, I would not buy that particular one without assessing damage myself in person first. Unless I could have it cheap then it’s worth the risk

The 4.6 rear 4pin will bolt straight onto my diesel. Two pin seems pretty indestructible TBF but I’ve heard story’s of them going.

Front won’t go on and can’t use a rear diff as it’s reverse gear. I could strip it down and just change the front pin with a 4pin out of a rear though :)

Or weld them up but then it will drive terrible - Did it to a defender. Would drive up a wall mind
