Hi everyone,
My p38 2001 dse after parked, the day after I turned the ignition so the engine cranks but won't start.
I got FIP checked and serviced as brand new but in vain. The engine won't start. I plugged the black box sync-mate which blinked red once which means the engine management system did not respond to wakeup.
At this stage I'm wondering if it's an ECU fault or something else which could block the engine to turn on.
The LR local dealer didn't sort any fault or error and so far they call me back to advise they have no idea on how to resolve.
Can anyone have faced such issue and may help me to resolve.
Many thanks in advance.

Sounds like loss of sync. Best bet is get someone with a Nanocom or similar to have a look. Might be someone near you on the LZIR map.

Just to check, fully charged battery and no messages on dash?

EDIT. Just seen you are in Italy. That could be tricky!

Yeah, I am in Tuscany, Italy
The battery was fitted new one month ago. Thinking it was faulty I asked the LR dealer to changed but the told me once recharged the battery is in a good state.
The dash is showing a lot of messages. Windows not sync, gearbox fault and so on. I've faced these msgs last time the battery died and they were removed by fitting the current new one. All was made by LR dealer.
Currently the car is still at the LR dealer and planning to carry it out next week as the told they are not able to resolve.
What can you suggest me to ask them to diagnose as they have, I believe, all the requested instruments?

hi , go to the dealers , get your key off them , go to the car , then ring me , do not try anything with the car !!!!!!! ring me & I will talk you through it . you can call also on WhatsApp its free !!!!! regards mozz .. p.s. see your messages !!!!!!

If battery is flattening check version of RF receiver. If not gen 3 then you need @martyuk and his filter fix.

Or @brianp38dse and his 2 fob trick.

If the battery went flat it is likely that the BECM has lost sync with engine ECU. If it has you will get no message saying so and the car will crank for ever and not start. Must be corrected with a Syncmate or diagnostics. The security code in the ECM needs copying to the BECM. If the battery failed then the code in the BECM will more than likely be scrambled. Can only be checked with diag. I am afraid Mozz is wasting his time.

Hi Wammers!!

I tried with the sync-mate but it flashed red once and did not synchronised.
In the user guide flashing red once is referring to engine management system did not respond to wakeup...
I don't know how to wake up this unit.

Will syncmate work if EKA required? Mind you, no dash messages mentioned so presumably just loss of sync?

ECM security code has nothing to do with EKA code. Nor has it anything to do with passive immobilisation. It is an handshake between ECM and BECM that when matched tells BECM to switch on ECM.
