Hi, Is there an upgrade available for the RF receiver on the P38's???????
I've had a few problems where i can't start the car. Even with use of the EKA code. I can open the door with the key but that's it, It comes up with engine disabled. I've been told its a RF receiver problem.
The car is a 2000 W PLATE 2.5 DSE AUTO

LR will be delighted to sell you one for £200+.
Most of us either remove the RF units aerial lead or fit a jog-unit to keep it switched off until needed.

What is a jog unit? I’m a newbie to the Land Rover world.
One of these. Usually <£10.
Some people use a 433Mhz one. I used a 318Mhz unit. Does the same job.

@brianp38dse has a How To on fitting a second remote fob that switches the RF receiver on and off. It should be in the Technical Section as he gets asked a couple of times a week by my reckoning. Is it in there or do we need to get the mods involved?

Mozz is the man for getting these things started without diagnostics. Engine disabled sounds like EKA code. In order to enter it you need all 3 microswitches on the bottom of the driver's door working or good diag, like a Nanocom. Do the indicators flash with each turn of the key when you try to enter the EKA? Open the door after 2nd attempt to prevent it locking you out for too many failed attempts. @martyuk has a check sheet for checking the locks are working as they should.

This one? https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-rover/rf-reciever-work-round.258096/

If there's threads you folks think should be in the tech section just point them out and I'll move them.

It's no good relying on me to work out what makes the grade.....I don't understand any of it

Sounds like more than just an RF receiver problem. What is the state of the battery? Even if it's the RF receiver that has caused battery drain, with low battery volts you will get nowhere.
