Petrol Air Compressor

I don't have one but have hired one on a couple of occasions. The main advantage of a petrol engine compressor over a genny and electric compressor is less losses in the system. Your engine is driving the compressor directly, whereas the genny is making electrical power which is then being used to drive a motor that is driving the compressor. So it makes more sense to drive the compressor directly from the engine, rather than add inefficiencies to the mix.

They are ideal, a tad noisy, but wheel it outside and it’s quieter, used one for many years, tied in the back of a pick up truck.

I reckoned a petrol compressor is quieter than a petrol genny and electric compressor running at the same time. Yes the electric compressor shuts off when it's fully charged, but the petrol jenny would still be running.
Obviously a petrol compressor will continue to run even when fully charged, just like the genny would.

The only problem with the cheap chinese compressors and motors is trying to get spares for them if something goes wrong.

Don't know weather to try one or not, probably better off paying the extra for British made with Honda engine, the 50 litre ones are the cheapest but will it be powerful enough to run all air tools as well as paint??

Its all to do with the CFM capacity of the compressor, if you have loads of air tools and want to paint with it don't even consider one that won't deliver at least 14cfm.
Only my opinion of course

Moved away from air tools (windy gun and air drill) when I lost the use of works huge capacity compressor. I now use a LiPo battery buzz gun and drill as it's so much less hassle. I have a 10 Ft FAD compressor for pumping tyres, spray painting, and other small air jobs however.
