Guys.

1991, 90. 2.5na (originally) ex-MOD.

Was rationalising some wiring today, and hardwiring in some extra bits.

I found this connector behind the fuse box. It’s a Lucas ‘RISTS’ item so contemporary. It was unplugged when I found it and I have left it that way, but I am unsure what it’s for. I connected the 2 halves together but couldn’t see what it was doing. I haven’t been able to trace it either and I am wondering what it’s for?

Ideas on a postcard.
Thanks

Ed

better off nowadays using an 3 Way AMP Superseal Waterproof Wiring Electrical Multi Connector, pn's 282087-1, 282105-1, 183024-1, 183025-1 & 281934-2.

you would need specialist tools to the job propper (see me after class)

will try to follow the wires and see where they go, i am wondering if its anything to do with the NATO light switch and all that ****e?

Fairly certain it is an OE fitment on MOD 90/110's of that era. My 1986 FFR also has one in the void behind the lower dash above the fusebox, not fitted by a previous owner as I bought my vehicle direct 20-years ago.
Looking at the MOD wiring diagram there is a connector shown with two red wires but unfortunately no key to say what it serves (it goes to an unused connector containing a blue, 2 x red and a brown wire).

I seem to remember from my foggy past that is something to do with lighting. It may have been that it makes your dipped beam headlight come on when on sidelights or something of that.

I removed the NATO light switch on my ex-military 110 and fitted a standard light switch. You have to connect a couple of wires and also connect this plug together to get the lights working conventionally.
