Well theres a turnip for the books......get a lift to 2" and change the brake lines to some shiny new ones, there only 30 quid for a set, so you dont ever get a problem with your brakes......Hope you can read this or are you stuck on a speedbump somewhere???
I am kinda lost at the reasons for raising the vehicle, part from fitting bigger wheels.
If it falls over on the road god knows what it must be like off road, plus it seems to eat couplings and ****s up the speedo. And what does the insurance say when it does fall over or I might add gets involved in an accident, not your fault and you havent told the insurance.
And finally if it is so unstable then probably the insurance wont agree to it anyway so you are totally ****ed, twice. And spent money to get there, bit like ****ing on yer own feet.
On a positive note it looks good mate, and if it rings yer bell go for it.
Used to be in the military and used them ****ty one tonies, forward steer crap wif a v8 stuffed in, went like **** but kept falling over, so don't want to go there again, once yev fallen over once yel see what I mean, ****in scared the **** out off me so it did and did it twice just to make sure so I did. ****ing nervous wreck after that. left ammo and all sorts of **** all over the road for about 200 yards and destroyed the trailer.
No fun watching the tarmac sliding by wiv yer face stuck to the side window, 2 inches from a skin graft.

I've got 235/85 r16 's on my disco NO lift full articulation, just pull the catching body work out the way,
front wing out about 3/4"
rear out 1 1/2"

The rear of the rear arch has been eating the outside edge of my tyre, fitting the 2" lift this weekend then will be trimming the fat for extra clearance.
these wheels are 7.50 80 16 mud tyres and fill the arch a little.

Surley you could bash it out of the way
Carefull if you do go the 2" lift way some reduce your articulation cos they are to hard.
I thought the 235/85 r16 was the equivilant to the 750 16

Will see what they are like as they arrived today! Will fit tomorrow and give them a bash sunday.
As for the body work my panel beater friend is gunna work his magic if needed after the lift is fitted.
We'll see how it pans out

Hiya Mate...
Would suggest a 2" lift, but make sure you fit dislocations cones & go for -1 on your front shock turrets. Did the same to mine & its been fantastic. If you've got the pennies to spend go for a good make of shocks & heavy duty springs. I bought OME shocks & the whole cost was approx 550 queen heads. I got all my stuff to do the job from Gwyn Lewis in Welshpool...he's very helpfull, gave me loads of advice & won't sell you stuff you don't need. Message me back if you want his phone number.

Are dislocation cones i had a look at them, the kit I've brought doesn't come with them but as it only cost £270 i think I will be investing in some as i do intend to use her for what she is made for. As for turrets I've been looking into them as well, does -1 mean you'll get 1 " more lift on the front??

Cheers that really useful.
Mine rubbed a little on the front bumper when first fitted so we cut the bumper side trim back which sorted that issue now just rubbing on the back off road and on big bumps. Want it to be higher for looks as well, been looking at dislocation cones again and will have to get some, do you just need them on the back??

if you read post 11 i actually told you 2 inches was the highest you could go without having to spend a fortune on dislocation cones and new radius arms, but hey what would i know. you listen to the wide tyre brigade and do it your way. in the meantime ill stick to my retarded farmer chat with the fish monger

First time I went proper off road (with mixed tyres) I **** mi knickers and made a right **** of myself doing it!!!
Been to a charity off road do today with spec family disco, you know the one's with a child seat in the back, only mod being a set of off road tyres and I went everywhere that all the deependers & fook off high lift jobbies did.
Enough said!

Yep same here but we was on alloys and road tires and the only time we got stuck was when the towbar dug in, in some really wet deep ruts.

This was the state of my disco after my last off road bash. Its pretty sticky at the moment and with ruts to deep for standards massive tyres are a must and hence the lift!
