Turbo circlip removal..

I've used (twice now) a pair of bog standard straight circlip pliers with two bits of tube to extend the handles for extra leverage. It takes two people , one to slip a small flat blade screwdriver into any gaps that appear between the outer circlip and the turbo body and stop it springing back and one to work the pliers. Frustrating job for sure.
Do you need to separate them? You can rotate it without splitting if you need to get a better outlet position cos I've done that too. Body will need re tapping for the waste gate actuator though, 2 x M6 threads.

Just noticed this buddy. Managed it earlier with a friend. Went to screw fix and brought a set of 4 circlip pliers and tried the ones that best suited. The straight ones. I held the turbo down and my mate did the circlip whilst I got a screwdriver in it like you have said. Didn't know I could turn it without removal but it's turned upwards now instead of down towards the inner arch skin and I've drilled and tapped the two m6 bolts. I'll adjust the actuator once the engines back in to boost where I want it.
