What have you done to your Freelander today

The 4 were all easy to get out, probably as they had been out before.

No photos I am afraid, I just lay on my back under engine with truck on ramps. Its all accessible and a doddle to do.

I only used a small socket set as the exhaust is quite close on the LHS bush.

Flow Flex don't list any LR bushes on their site but they do list them in their ebay shop.

Fitted a Renault thermostat in the top radiator hose!

The old coat was to stop any swarf getting into the inlets while grinding off the metal band that was securing the hose.
I found the connector was too tight to pull off so left it there as I had to take the hose off the connector anyway to get the thermostat in. Had I been able to get it off I wouldn't have had to take the inlet manifold off but it isn't that big a job anyway. I used a smear of Silicone grease to get the thermostat into the hose and it slipped in fairly easily.
I think it took longer bleeding the system than it did replacing the thermostat but now the temperature gauge rises nicely and sits at half way so very pleased.

Bone dry apparently but 45 squid for fill up. About 150 odd for ABS Reluctant ring replacement an labour plus vat all together.
Yikes, these beggars know what to charge for labour eh ? :eek: - the ring is dirt cheap.. however, I suppose the hourly rate is bloody expensive. - I am 12 years out of date with UK prices so some come as a total shock :oops: (the AC recharge is a good price though for a quality job )- some use those crappy little bottle kits instead of a full quality unit - yours will be the real McCoy.
Nice to have AC though aint it :D
Couldn't live without it.

It is exhausty. It's going to be my new back box, once the rest of the bits arrive.
It's a 63mm id straight through box in stainless steel.

It shouldn't make much more noise than standard. It's longer than the SES88 slimline box, on which I modeled the design;)
Sweet, I could do with something like that to get a bit more ground clearance at the back. Also thinking of doing away with the CAT and middle box if I can.
I wanted an SES88 slimline back box some time back but wasn't really prepared to fit one to my old V6. The TD4 won't make more much noise, so I thought, what the heck. My current back box has a gaping hole in the top anyway, so with the MOT round the corner, I decided to order the bits needed to make up my own stainless slimline back box.

I wouldn't dump the centre box, it's straight through anyway. The cat is worth loosing it's internals however;)
 
Ha, Grumpy talked about the cup holder. I thought it would be good to have one then too. I thought I don't often have a cup that needs holding. However, I do need somewhere to put the spec's, pen, USB drive, screws/nuts that drop out from the dash-console depths.... Courses for horses eh.

:) :) :) That was the first bit going off the parts/project car onto the daily drive - I was so chuffed I'd got a car with one of those. At least that was the plan a year ago when I got it.... Various bits have gone over..... but the cup hold is still sitting on my coffee table in the lounge for those reasons.

However, having taken the cubby box over, the dash is used less for "bitz 'n bobz' and..... me and boy are heading down Mackenzie Country fishing this week - so it shall be installed.

You can stuff your posh Range Rovers - I've got cup holders on me Freelander now... at least for a couple of days anyway :)

You post a video of your fancy new cup holder and how it glides open and closed with a posh refinedness.

A sort of elegancy found in the rich and famous garages where nothing on their Bentlys needs human power to open, nothing on their Rolls's closes with a clatter, just a subtle whisper, where the top of the range Mercs have precise engineering that oooses quality. Seriously classy and successful people have access to this refinement.

But........ you my son, are a cheat!

I spotted that sly finger pulling it open, cos its from the Rover parts bin and don't glide what like it ort ta :)

I know my son, my finger does the same sly 'assist' when practising with it on the coffee table - every time I think its going to open all posh like - but no, the sly finger is needed every time :)
