Front diff

I fancy a p38 as I sold my discovery 1 last year and have been missing a land rover to sod about with since and a p38 would be ideal .Do these cars have a problem with the front axles I have seen two with a view to buy, one had a noisy front axle , one had the front prop removed due to a axle problem is this just a coincidence or is this a weakness with these axles.

No weakness in axle as such. But if car is run with VC seized causes prop shaft and diff problems.

Thanks I had forgotten p38s have a cv not a diff lock as my old Disco perhaps that's why the front prop had been taken off of one car.

Yep they last for years and years if you grease them now and again.

My 4.6 has had a front diff replaced a few years ago but I don't know why, have just got the bill for it in the history file.
