Hi Guys, I have an airleak on the front left bag (job in hand to change them but the car Isn't booked in until Monday to have them done).

My pain in the backside sister has decided she is moving flats this weekend and doesn't want to hire a van as she hasn't got that much to move.

Aside from the potential wear on the compressor and the possible rough ride if the leak gets worse am I likely to cause any damage to the car by helping her move? Sadly its a 120 mile round trip on the motorway.

I've only driven it once since its had the air leak and its well capable of keeping level with the compressor turning of when the tank is full and kicking back in again once its self levels after the bag leaks a bit.

Well the leak is definitely going to get worse not better.
If it gets worse slowly you're either going to burn out your compressor or end up on your bump stops with a 'hard' fault. It would then be illegal for you to travel on the motorway as you are limited to 35mph.
If it gets worse quickly you are going to swerve across the motorway.

The bags are incredibly tough items and do normally fail slowly rather than catastrophically.

Your car, your licence and your insurance so it's your choice but if you now have an incident don't forget that you've announced, on a public forum, that you know that you have a fault on your car.

Good lad.
It's possibly the easiest repair job on a P38.

Brilliant thanks Datatek, I did look in there but for some reason I couldnt see the how to at first... Will be heading to the workshop shortly

Didn't get started till 6 sadly... But have managed to do the front two in 3 hours. Biggest pain is getting the sodding top clips on again!

Rears can wait till another day... At least she doesn't sound like a set of bag pipes deflating when the ignition is of now!

Well done:clap2: now you can do the move without any worrys and your sister will think your the best brother around, and saved a garage bill:)

Well done, at least you will be safe from an unexpected deflation now and your compressor will live for another day.:)

Cheers chaps yeah back from the moving run, still got to find out what the hell is wrong with the schizophrenic battery that its got on it at the moment.

Drove 60 miles, pulled into a car park switched the engine of for 10 minutes and it wouldn't restart. Jumped it from a spare battery I had collected from my parents drove it 50 feet into a proper parking space and left it for 1:30 and it restarted quite happily!
