check all tyre pressures

Hi guys.
Struggling with my own rangey. Keeps saying check all tyre pressures and check spare tyre pressure intermittently every few miles as if power is shorting to module or something. Can be off for days then starts up again. Tyre pressure seems fine. Gave in and took it to the dealership and they said they couldnt find any fault on the system !!! Helpful ! The best they came up with was it should have 18" wheels not the 20" on it. When I pointed out it was fitted with 20" from the factory new they looked puzzled.
I read FrankRizzo post on here with great interest. It talks about the module in the boot right side by fuses.
Anyone had this problem im at my wits end !!!

Why do manufacturers fit non essential gadgets on cars these days. Just something else to go wrong and not needed.

+1...and ever non-essential gadget also has a non-essential sensor attached.. so that doubles the chances of them going wrong. The number of Recoveries that I do where an amber light has come on and the customer has been advised not to drive any further...is ridiculous!
Still... I get paid for it.....

It makes you wonder how people managed to set correct tyre pressures for the hundred years or so before pressure sensors were introduced. All the gadgets are just another excuse not to maintain your vehicle, until you get a warning light it is fine apparently. Bloody ridiculous.

After watching dash cam of a tyre blowout video from one of our members I am considering a TyrePal pressure measuring system for my p38. Anyone have any experiences of this possibly life saving gadget??

By the time you have the blowout it's a bit late for the tyre pressure gadget to tell you isn't it ??

I'm trying to control myself in not calling you a stupid idiot!! If a tyre Pressure Monitor can alert you to a potential problem with a tyre then it makes sense to fit one. I and I assume most of us travel long distances at high speed. Its madness for the owner of a Range Rover or any other car for that matter to not set correct tyre pressures at all times (I do). The monitor should alert you to not only tyre pressure but tyre temperature as well which can lead to a blow out. Might just give enough time to slow/change lane on a motorway before the tyre gives out. They fit L322 cars (not mine unfortunately) with this system to help you survive! the fact that some owners can't be bothered and probably never do check tyre pressures is a serious problem for all car owners. Going to get one!

In millions of miles of motoring all over the world including dirt roads, I've never had a serious blow out, but then I do look after my tyres. How many people don't even notice an overheat or low oil pressure warning? I think the system is a waste of time, no substitute for good preventive maintenance. If you rely on a system that is unreliable, it's worse than not having the system at all.
