Defender flickering lights

Hi, any advice would be appreciated ... My 110 200tdi has had flickering head/side lights since I've had it for 18 months.
Now I have added roof spots and they are also as bad. I have checked the alternator wires, all good, volt meter is stable with output, fuse box all good, battery new & clean good connections ???
I have also noted when towing, the trailer lights play the same game !!!

I have rebuilt my two 90's but when it comes to electrics I fail miserably
Any ideas out there please ??? thanx in advance ... JD

If it's all the lights front and rear I'd suspect the main light switch

Cheers b, beasty, I thought of that but my new spots are on an independent switch on a Mud console with their own feed, so I eliminated the main switch. Thanks for the reply tho ..

Ah, dont know then. I'd assumed spots would be fed via main beam.

Actually I'd assumed spots wired with their own feed but trigger from a relay feed from main beam.

If so symptoms still suggest light switch

+1 on the alternator.
The faulty lights are too well spread and their wiring is too separate for it to be an earth issue. The alternator is the only other common factor.

+1 on alternator, if you turn ignition on (without starting engine) I guess the lights are OK?, could also try wiggling relevant wiring (including earth straps) to see if you can make them flicker.

Will check earth strap, not thought of that one, and alternator again today.
