Leak and Radio Problem

2.5 TD DHSE

Ok, so the battery was flat this morning, the radio keeps switching on at night. (Pulled all the fuses for now). 3 fuses!! Radio and Amps etc
So car is not drivable, as these fuses take out a lot of other stuff!!

All the posts suggest that "condensation" is causing this radio issue!
I hope that this is the case, at least I may be able to solve that.

I have sealed the pollen filters and the sunroof drains seem to be clear and working. I have yet to clear the AC drains under the car. Matrix O rings are not leaking. Datatek also has suggested the roofrack bars near the front need checking.

Also, look at these two photos which may help:

Photo 1) This is the only place water is present....just under the drivers kick panel. The carpet to the left is a little damp, but I think this is because the water in this cable area is sloshing about. I recently also sealed the rubber at the top of the door frame. The BECM is dry.

2) I found "this" little white pipe in the water......could this be the problem? Anyone recognise it???

If I fix the water, the radio, I am hoping will fix itself!!!

I would also try & get the cable looms as dry as possible once the leak is fixed. Moisture has a bad habit of creeping up cabling & finding it's way to connectors.

sometimes its worth packing connectors with vaseline, if they suffer from moisture.

There was a service bulletin about water running down loom through bulkhead. If you can't find anything else maybe worth a look.

The problem is, if there is water in the car, it leads to condensation in other places. There was another thread a while back about the radio switching itself on. I'd pull the radio out, then you can put the fuses back. With the radio out, you can take indoors and dry it out in the airing cupboard for a few days. If that does not fix it, I would suspect a fault with the radio, I don't know which one you have, but Clarion & Alpine both have service departments I believe.

Thanks, will defo remove radio and dry it. Water all removed. Next rain storm, will see if it comes back. Going to fix HEVAC LCD this weekend also.

When you get round to removing air intake panel at bottom of windscreen you may find that the drains there are blocked due to leaves / debris due to missing filter and water making its way through somewhere ? + a dehumidifier will help things along to dry interior

Great plan. I will need to drill the cross head screws out. All stripped

i had a similar problem with my p38, have a look in the spare wheel well, as mine was filling up with water and the condensation it was causing affected the cd multiplay unit in boot, there is a thread with a solution on here somewhere that tells you how to stop the water getting in at the back of the car, good luck with sorting it out

I had that for a while. Ill fitting tailgate seal. So sneaky, the water seeped under the lower tailgate trim, didn't leave any wet stains anywhere and just collected in the wheel well. A lot of head scratching but so simple after you've had that "Aha!" moment.

Rachel may I add, I see you on the Hawkeye user group and in here and I've witnessed you battling with this car (and probably other things) and I tip my hat to you, I admire your spirit.

Very early one dated 15/06/94. Bulletin 76/19/94 EN. Look in bulletins Range rover /Body/ Water ingress into footwell. Refers to loom under coolant header tank.

Hello Wammers, I can't find this on my RAVE? Can you paste it in, next time you are on RAVE please? I still have water appearing under the drivers footwell panel on the right.
