DHSE 2.5

OK, so it has been raining like hell down here in Kent, so not too worried, even my Fiesta ST170 sprung a leak!!

So, driving the Rangie about today, I discovered the headlining is damp (not wet), behind the sun visors. Both sides, but the drivers may be a little more damp. The passenger side sun visor has mould on it!!!

Now I am used to a little water sloshing about under the kick panel (Drivers door). But this is new....

Any clue? I suspect maybe sunroof?

Thanks as always.....

Should be more worried about a little water sloshing about under the kick panel.

Drains blocked, common issue, do a wee search

RAVE chassis repair section for details

My DSE had a rather annoying Windscreen leak...but then I traced it to where the roof panels are joined under the Roof Rack Rail Plastic....the roof is 3 panels, one central part and the two side panels...they join via a raised fold (think Morris Marina, Mini, Allegro et al gutters....similar join) and is hidden under the plastic Roof Rail thingy....silicone sealant sorted it to be 95% better and only leaked after a very very heavey downpour!

Thanks for the tip!! Will check that also.......:)

Checked Rave, found the Sunroof drains.......Poured soapy water down....they are clear.

On checking the roof lining it is dry now!!! I suspect moisture built up between the visors and the roof lining causing the dampness, and the mould.

I have cleaned the mould off and left the visors down.

I may have to sort the sloshing water under the kick panel (Drivers door).

Too damn wet to get near the car for that type of work!!!

If you have water in the footwell, everything will get wet with condensation. Fix it quick before it destroys the BECM.

Front roof drains are behind rear of wheel arch liner at front and behind front of wheel arch liner at rear. Don't poke wire down them you could puncture the tubes. Gentle blow from either end usually works.

Thanks Wammers, defo got the water to come out of front ones, car was on serious slope so couldn't get the water out of the rear. Will flip car round tomorrow.

Hey Keith, it's not in the footwell, under carpet near edge was a tiny bit damp. The groove where the cable is had water in it. Not checked it since I repaired the top of the door seal. It was hanging down when I got the car. Sealed it, and dried out the groove. Hoping it is dry now. But too wet outside to get at it!
