Thinking of buying a Range Rover

Don't get me wrong - I don't wanna put someone off Range Rovers I am one of their biggest fans, but IMHO people buy them cos they are getting cheaper, they then try and run them on a shoestring and when the repair bills keep coming, they scrap them off....

Far to many are scrapped needlessly due to going into ownership blinkered or with rose tinted specs....

I always urge potential owners to understand that Range Rovers are costly to run with potential heartache when it breaks down - and to accept that before buying one instead of buying one, getting a few faults, then getting rid to a scrapyard needlessly.

Range Rovers are truly AWESOME to own - just respect the brand and treat the cars correctly is all I ask!

I bought a 2004 td6 2 year ago its cost me 400 quid in repairs + servicing up to now, I dont think thats too much hassle,and saints right they are awsome

There are good ones out there that will give a good length of service before the inevitable - and there are some iffy ones..!!

Just because you have realised you can afford to buy a Range Rover , of any age or model. Does not mean you can afford to own one. If it is class on the cheap you are after Range Rover is not where to look. Class and cheap are very poor bed fellows

Just because you have realised you can afford to buy a Range Rover , of any age or model. Does not mean you can afford to own one. If it is class on the cheap you are after Range Rover is not where to look. Class and cheap are very poor bed fellows

Well I disagree parts are cheaper than on almost every modern car , but the most inportant thing , is being able to fix things yourself then and only then they are cheap as chips

Which not everyone has the time/skill/space/inclination for *.Making them once again in the bracket of,' just because you can afford to buy it doesn't mean you can afford to own it'.


* I place myself in 3 of 4 of those. I do not have the time. If I had the time I do not have the space, nor do I have the skill for most of the jobs on the L322. However I can afford to pay someone else to do the work, that I cannot.

I was referring to the old p38 time I'd make, space I've got , but when I didn't the road was good enough ,inclination is I like saving money and having the job done properly . I do understand what your saying, if you haven't got the above .

High parts costs really only apply to the L322, P38 parts are as cheap as any car on the road, so if you can DIY the P38 is cheap to maintain, full of niggly problems but cheap. The L322 is also full of niggly problems but about 4 x the cost for parts.
