Disco + Post = dented door and bent door trim :(

The metal has popped back ok(ish) but the plastic door trim warped during the impact and/or set that way before I got to work on it.

It won't stay flush with the door now - even with new double sided trim sticky tape.

So I want to straighten it - I'm thinking I can put it on a flat surface, show it some heat (not too much) and hopefully it'll reform.

Am I hoping too much?
Is there a better way?

I would use a hairdryer to apply heat; use the double-sided tape and a G-clamp or similar to press it flat onto the wheelarch and apply the heat until it stops springing back.

Thanks

I did wonder if this would be the excuse to buy a heat gun - but I feared a hairdrier would be hot enough :)

This is the door, not the wheelarch and clamping it in place is not easy (at least for me it isn't).

So I'm wondering about clamping it to some wood and then transferring it when its straight - is there any reason why this is not a good idea?

Ha Ha Ha! How I laughed today when I put the double sided tape onto the trim and offered it up to the door.

The trim fits onto a part of the panel that has a bend on it.

I had very cleverly flattened that bend out of the trim

So now I've got to try and put the bend back in!

The trim is currently resting along a pole with wood on either side to hopefully achieve just the right bend - all laden down with heavyish stuff I can find in the garage.
