I'm leaving it in until its all done properly mate. I understand what your saying about it, but I'm transmitting almost 20mile with it inline at the minute.

I will test it at the antenna base once it's all rigged up properly, and tube the antenna to give the least SWR I can get.

just one tip never check your SWR near a building you will get a false reading as it reflects back of the building , try to do it out in a opening

Aaahhh, well the centre of my dash has 2 cupholders, one of which holds an adaptor for 12V Aux and 5V USB outputs. These are running my smartphone/Satnav/Batt-indicator supplies.

I think I will probably end up cutting up the tray under the radio to slot the CB into!

Is yours a facelift? Mine isn't so only had that crappy rubber storage unit where the CB is now.

Cheers mate, I try and check it randomly on the way to work while transmitting on vacant channels. If I understand it properly, if you have a higher SWR on channel 40 than on channel 1, the antenna is too long, and vice versa. Mine is around 2 at channel 40 but almost 1.5 at channel 1, so needs tweaking once I'm happy with everything else.
