Yesterday(Saturday) was a ‘weird one’ for me as work hadn’t called due to lack of… work?🤔

It’s becoming a ‘thing’ but not one to miss an opportunity I got up to the garage after a bowl of porridge and a cup of tea. A mixed bag of tasks, first of which was the refitting of the fuel filter/pump assembly under the rear off side arch. Friday on a ‘test fit’ I noticed that the bracket ‘hanger’ arrangement that bolts to the chassis had an ‘issue’ with the ‘bolt slot’ was… absent(at least a part of the outer edge of the slot was corroded/absent) meaning that a mounting bolt wouldn’t fully secure the assembly at the rear. Finding some 2mm(approx) steel in my steel scrap bin I quickly cleaned/templates/cut/removed corroded section/welded in new section, drilled slot for the 10mm bolt to pass through all painted etc. didn’t get a photo but maybe took 1hr plus waiting for paint to dry etc. don’t think I took any photos of that but looks ‘factory’ (from a distance/if you screw your eyes up) The plastic mounting/carrier for all this stuff was cleaned and when assembling for fitment I drilled and secured the larger securing strap with two ‘tech screws’ so that there would be no movement of the assembly once bolted to chassis. All the connectors and pipework were attached once mounted and all in the correct locations. Only thing in that area which isn’t located correctly is the ABS connector as I’m at a loss as to where it actually should go. The bracket for securing the rear of the pump assembly seems to block where the ABS connector box may have been but I think everything is where it’s meant to be. At the moment the connectors are just draped over the pump assembly bracket which can’t be a good thing in the long run. Anyhoo minor victories achieved in that particular area. I had to ‘make’ a new earthing connector for the pump/filter out of a brass connector from a number plate light.. make do and mend stuff. It’ll do!

This TD4 has a tow bar(think it’s a BritPart example) and this has been remounted to the car but I seek a replacement as it was heavily corroded despite cleaning it up it looks crap.. It’s not structurally compromised just aesthetically poor. I do also need a new recovery ‘bracket’ for the rear. That will be sourced later.

Now back at work so nowt to report for a few days I guess.

FBH dosing pump? Is that the circled item on the right in the photo I have marked? If so it actually mounts to the plastic housing circled on the left. It’s a ‘push fit’ and I must have spent more than a reasonable amount of time trying to figure out how it goes on. Once you manage to fit it it’s ‘simple as’..

I have noticed in photos of this assembly online that most are just thrown in together and ‘bolted up ‘ my little pump thing was actually resting just above where it should have been located.

If you mean something completely different let me know as ‘confusion reigns’ a lot when it comes to mechanictrickery …

Looking at your photo more closely it looks like your ‘mount’ is broken or damaged a bit.. will try to remember to get a good close up of it for reference later today..

The FBH dosing pump seems to be in the wrong position, other than that all looks ok.

Found this photo showing a ‘good’ mount you can see the two slots that the plastic sleeve on the pump slide into. A simple fit after a fair while wondering/trying to attach the damn thing..
