I'm sure we can do steel would be easier alot of wasted material from one lump of brass and not cheap material. With steel you could weld the boss in and machine the weld down smooth.

what about mamod steam model traction engine wheels or they did a steam car.

bit intricate for a 6 x 16 boss!

25mm round bar, turn the boss, part it off. turn it round, wap the hole thru, countersink the face. start agin.

when mhm decides eggsackerly what he wants.......:p

I have some phospher bronze (for diff pegging) if its 25mm its roughly that dia I'll happily turn one up for you as a pattern see if it would work and then you can get the material you need

My machine shop is bigger than my fab shop, I can turn parts up to 5 ton, that said I can machine parts down to horological size parts......and Im cheap:D

a bit like this.....

the holet o be 6mm (I think) recessed on the other side to allow a 6mm csk screw head to be flush with outside ( or a slim nut).

I had thought of the brass one above with an O ring as a tyre.

The large dia is 25mm by 4mm thick. the boss is not critical to the best of my knowledge - anyhere up to about 16mm dia, i reckon.
i just may have something like that in the shox box,the mountain bike has all sorts of bits like that,i can look in the box in the morning.

steam or stirling?

single valve shunt seal 2 stroke steam ( copy of a single cylinder horisontal gas engine ) ive also got plans to make the same engine in 4 stroke and if i can find the right bearings ( VCR head unit ballraces ) i could possibly make it hit n miss :D:D

got another i made from **** like brake slave cylinder and skateboard bearings n a few plumbing fixtures

I'll get some pics of the mrs grandads engine he built well one of them
