All of them! Its not as strarght forward as you'd think.
The speedo gets its signal from the ECU which in turn gets its signal from the speed sender fitted to the transfer box.
and the point of this mod is?????
shed loads of work just to tell ya the speed your doinwell all my stuff is knackered so was gunna modernise it will i was at it
what upgrafing all the dials and dash lights ect to the newer td5/v8 one?
its a landrover not the starship enterpriseYes, you can change the whole binnacle over.
Wiltshire: The point would be the fact that the illumination is a lot better in the later Td5 setup. So you can see your gauges in the dark. That and the LED warning light panel which means you can see those during the day. Oh and the speedo needle doesn't wobble about like it can do with the mechanical models

I've done a couple of vehicles, I wouldn't say it was a shed-load of work. As above, so long as you can use a soldering iron and a set of crimpers it's simple enough to do.

i didnt realise they were led and yes ive come across this before i think i am deginately going to have to give it ago but will i be okai leaving my original temp guage in with it being v8?
Surely easier to fit a LED lamp to the old binnacle if lighting of dials is the issue and I quite like the speedo needle that at low speeds bounces around - you dont get that in these new cars, lets you know you driving around something special!!
You can put LED bulbs in the back of the gauges, but that doesn't solve the issue of their poor lighting design. And won't help the warning lights, which can be a pain to see during the day. Td5 setup solves all these issues, and does so while still looking factory with green backlighting, and avoiding horrible mis-matched aftermarket gauges and the like.
As for the needle, well each to their own. Personally I don't need a dodgy speedo to remind me that I'm driving something special
At the end of the day everybody has a different idea of what the vehicle is to them, but as far as I can see the Td5 gauge mod is a simple and highly effective undertaking which looks great and makes the vehicle nicer to drive. I don't think it really has any drawbacks, other than the fact that it's getting harder to find Td5 binnacles at a decent price these days!
