Use the Puma Heated Seat switch YUF500150LNF (around a fiver :) ), and swap the heated seat switch cap for one off of a switch blank.

You can drill a 2.5mm hole in the blank cover, so that the Orange 'tell-tale' LED can be used to indicate when the switch is 'on'.

Have a look here - Land Rover Owner • View topic - Def >2004 Dash Switches without graphics

If you're good with an engraving tool, you can engrave your own legend on to the blank cover.

YUF500150LNF is a live-switching, latching on/off switch, unlike most of the other switches that either switch the earth, or are momentary switches.

It uses the Black 5-way switch connector, which I sell on eBay, see link in my signature.

It's wired, as follows -

Pin 1 - Live in from fused supply
Pin 2 - Dash illumination
Pin 3 - Not used (but is internally connected to Pin 5 - Earth)
Pin 4 - Switched live out to accessory
Pin 5 - Earth

Can I ask where you get the heated seat switches for a fiver as I can only find them for around £15 up

Ok, I've looked into this a bit deeper and for anyone wanting to put heated seat switches in the original place on a defender td5 (lower down at either side of the centre console) you need part number Yug102430lnf this is listed as a left hand switch and yug102440lnf is the right hand switch. The ones on the post above sit on the top row of the dash and will also work but if your after authenticity these will fit where Landrover intended :) hope this helps

Fitted the Waeco seat heaters, with Puma heated seat switches to my TD5 today.
It was V easy took no time and now I have a warm bum!

Thanks to PAUL on here for switch pin outs etc

Bought a stack of heated seat switches from Rimmer bros, £4.95 each.

Pop the front off, and now i have positive switching latching switches for :

next projects!!

  • 2nd Fog light
  • Heated screen
  • External Floods
  • External Anderson 12V HD take off.

Good advise on the switches - cheers. But does anyone know what this blank is for?

I have fitted a double usb socket, as I still have a few things that need a standard fag lighter, such as my 12v kettle!

Maybe its for an ejector seat?

:)
