How do I tell the differance between a mk1 and mk2 discovery!

Really? if you cant work that out and you can spell your own name ? You must have a real easy name ? And disco 1 is a 200/300tdi or 3.9 v8 efi , disco 2 is td5 or 4.0(3.9) v8. And disco 2 will say series 2 on back, has different lights etc

Have look in the back.......if it has a boot floor it's not any type of Discovery

disco 1s look proper retro

Discovery 1 rear lights are towards the bottom of the corner panel and discovery 2 are middle/slightly to the top, discovery 1 rear bumper lights are square and discovery 2 have rounded corners, there's plenty more but would take too long to write

how the front edge of the alpine windows aligns with the rear door pillar on a five door is a dead giveaway.
disco 2 has a longer boot section so the front edge of the alpine window is further rearwards.

I thought that but by all accounts d2 are 94+ so wanted to make sure I didn't get older d2 Bits for a d1

could be but i think the dates are a little out there. Im no disco egg spurt or anything (i drive a defender, a proper land rover :boink: )

But i thought they stopped the disco 1 the same time they started with the TD5 in the defender? which was either 98 or 99 i think.

I wait t be corrected though.

That's useful thanks. Been looking at a damaged disco to keep price down as I really want a 110 van. But budget is too low. But looking up the parts I need kept mixing between series1 and 2. It's the front corner that needs fixing but when I googled it for images it showed all shapes.

Or a two litre.
Disco commercials are quite reasonably priced and a half decent alternitive to a 110 ht.

94 is when they face lifted the d1, not to be confused with the d2 that came 98/99

Oh and D1 200tdi - can be started with 2 wires.

D1 300tdi - can be started with two wires + emobiliser by-pass

D2 TD5 - is full of electronics and is ****.
