Last week the Steering Rod lower UJ went pair shaped.
The steering wheel spun and I knew immediately that the Air Bag ribbon within the steering wheel got knact - I heard it.

So I fixed the UJ - steering perfect but the SRS light is now on all the time.

Simple question - is it an easy fix or should I just live with the light on

Is a V8 disco 1

Thanks James - do I need to disconnect the battery? I dont know why but I cant help worrying that the air bags gonna blow up in my face the minute I start meddling with the steering wheel

that could happen every time you turn ignition on etc,i think it says so in manual and wait a while ,but i never bother ,there is some screws holding it from the rear

I replaced mine a while back, i was pretty worried about the airbag, i did disconnect battery, and made sure i didnt get any static lol yes i was that worried! its still got the SRS light on is it most likely a case of getting it plugged into a computer and fault cleared or something more ?

Changed mine on a disco 2 without disconnecting the battery just don't put your face front of the air bag just incase hahaha, easy enough job though

I've got the same issue. I saw on another thread somewhere that the srs light could be cleared by turning ignition on and disconnecting battery within 8 seconds. Not sure about that ,haven't changed my rotary coupling yet.

so turn ignition on off run out disconnect battery ? Or leave ignition on and disconnect battery?
