What Tow bar solution for towing and off road?

Basically I use my 90 for off roading but I use it for goin to the tip with a trailer,

When off road I use it for recovery but fed up of it acting like a ground enchor,

I have taken it off for now and was going to but the towbar on the cross member with a 10mm plate on the back, will this be strong enough for satch recovery ect? The trailer I tow is plated at 1.5 ton but on the cross member it will sit way to high as I have a 2" and 32" tall tyres,

I would not trust a towball for snatch recovery personally. The rope is able to slip off and the ball is unlikely to be rated high enough. Have you considered either a nato jaw or recovery eye on the cross member (with the appropriately sized plate on the back)?

You can buy detachable towbars with recovery points but they are quite expensive, you may prefer to continue removing/replacing your towbar as and when required.

If you are using snatch recovery it would also be advisable to check your chassis thoroughly first, the forces exerted on the vehicle are far greater than those from normal towing.

If I take it off I dont have any rear recovery points, the chassi is in very good condition and the crossmember is very good only a few years old, when I say snatch i mean to be pulled out not to violent tho.
What if I was to get a ball and pin type would that work?

i have access to grinder and welder to adjust it to fit although it would be nice not to have to,

get a set of jate rings and don't bother with a towbar. Just fit it on the rare occasion you tow a trailer.

if i use jate rings would it be best to get a short tow strap with hoops on the end and pass the jate rings through the hoop if that makes sence so no shackles underneth and i been pulled evenly from both sides?

Some do that. But I used to just fit a shackle on them. makes it easier to take em off when not needed.

this is true, im gessing that using a tow bar on the cross member is ok to give alittle pull as loads of people at pay and plays seam to use them like that. i mean setting off slowly to take the slack,

is it just snatch recovery that buts a great deal of force through everything?

tow ball is perfectly fine if mounted well even for snatching.
