We all know that the book states that a 'classic's auto-box's fluid level should be checked when the car is level but finding such a situation (unless you have a dedicated workshop) is virtually impossible. Even if you sus out a suitable area the chances are that you have to drive there, but the 'box is supposed to be cold when it's checked Just how much does the level reading vary between taken when cold & at running temperature?
