Under normal driving my temp gauge goes just over half way but while towing a couple of ton of stone, the guage max,s out although doesent over heat. I read the threads about changing the sender on the 200tdi for one to match the guage in the defender but wondered how i could check if this has already been done and if i should check other things for the over heating. Cheers

give us a bit more info, geussing its a disco tdi fitted in a fender? viscous or electric fans? what condition is the radiator in? if it had the wrong sender it would read hot all the time.

its a good question.. how do you identify if you have the right temp sensor already fitted though?

My 90 has a disco 200 engine in it..... how do I know if the previous owner didnt fit one of these sensors before?

does your temp sit just under the red on motorway ??

if it does try this temp sender, just check the thread

Mine is a Defender 200tdi originally and now it has a Disco 200tdi, will I have the same problem? 88 degrees seems to be at 1/4-1/3 temp?

you should be fine mate 200tdi and 200tdi, are old 90's was 2.5td or na

Ah good :D must just be running cool or the gauge a bit off, as long as i know when it gets hot  *touch wood* it doesn't happen
