Wheels sitting to far forward.

I noticed my rear wheels are sitting to far forward in the arch. It has a 2 inch lift kit 285 tyres.
Is this normal is is there something I can do to correct this?

the only way you can move axle is by changing trailing arms

Also when off road the wheel can catch the front of the plastic arch. Just dont seem right to me.
I dont know if just down to the size of the wheels an tyres though, (285/75/16 and 10" wide wheels).

My personal opinion is that the ride height/lift kit/springs make the motor sit too high if it was lowered it would look right.
This could be down to too tall a springs, too stiff springs extra lifting blocks etc.

As for catching the body Again my personal opinion which no doubt will not be shared with the rest of the forum I believe it to be a poor choice of lift/wheels tyre combo if it catches. Asthetics over function. If a wheel is catching the body the one with the weight on that needs to be driving will get wedged and not help you out when stuck and or rip off bodywork.

From experience this kind of cool looking lift has zero credibility with me because theyre usually the guys with stupid stiff springs lifting wheels and getting stuck far more often than a stock landy suspension on same/similar tyres with a correct offset to fit.

youre obviously using as your supposed to if your that worried about your wheels catchin on the arches extend yr bump stops,i certainly wouldnt downsize tyres

Lifting a landy and making it work well is not a simple cheap task. There are some basic recepies that work well and there are those that really don't unfortunatly most "lift kits" as sold in mags are usually the latter.

Extending your bumop stops will lose upward travel (not great if you want lots of articulation) Better to get the tyres in the arches so they do not rub. My 37 inch measured tyres did not rub the rears with full spats. they were within 8mm of the strengthening strip on the rear tub when fully compressed against the bump stop.

No im not fussed about them catching as it only catches the plastic arch and not the bodywork. Its already broke both the arches and ive had to do a cable tie repair on both sides!
I would not change the tyre/suspensoin setup as it is brilliant off road. I just thought there might of been something I could buy/replace to improve the way it sits.

I keep looking at the picture thinking "I need rock sliders"!

Much jacking and driving up tyres/ramps to get max and min articulation to get an idea of what you can get away with.

A basic recepie is red white RRC HD rear springs all around on a Hard Top 90 3 inches longer that stock free height and 175Lbs an inch opposed to 215Lbs an inch softer (like andrex softer and longer). Because they are softer your lift is only 2 inches over stock. ride height looks naff if you like you bling yank lift look. Also Plus 2 inch shocks and your on to a decent start from there again tyres and wheel width and offset makes the difference to being a sorted motor or another guess.

Im not moaning im asking people who are more experienced then myself if it should be catching the arch or if there was something I could do to stop it, improving my landrover!

Well I don't like them catching and think you sould do somthing about it WLM reckons man up. Swings and Roundabouts.

Not just a case of extending the radius arms tho its not as simple as that if your thinking of getting adjustable ones.

No to be honest I do think I just need to man up and stop worrying about it! If it was a simple fix I would do it but I really dont want to start getting into adjustable arms and all that stuff.

Would be much easier to get a hacksaw and remove the part it catches on I suppose!

remember its not catching because its not centred. when its compresses it will be centred in the arch. its catching because you have wider wheels more offset and larger dia tyres that the designed limits. Not because its not central.
