i have agreed (without too much persuasion) that we need a new family car....we are looking at a 110 lwb 300 tdi 1997 reg.
issue is we have two small children...
please please please can anyone give me the details of a second stage car seat that will fit on the second row of seats....
i do not want to have to tell husband he can't get the car!

so...if we changed the seat to exmoor trim high back then most car seats will fit?
has anyone done this and which car seat did they fit?
is there really no seat that will fit with the standard low back seat?

We have 4 kids.
We have used the Graco baby carrier that clips into an autobase in the middle seat in the back of the 110 for 3 of them. They then upgraded to the Maxi-cosi Priory XP. This fits into any of the seats, high or low back, lap belt or full 3 point belt.
Once out of that they are into the cheap kids booster seats with the standard car 3 point seat belt. These need the high back seats for the support to the hear and upper back.
All of this was no problem, and all the kids have plenty of leg room.
Kids are currently 7, 5, 3 and 10 months.

hi,

As said get high back seat, thats what i did when my son came out of the baby seat (from front seat) i then went to mothercare and got the assisant to try various models in the back, there all trained and know exactly how the seat should sit, cos there were certain ones that wernt fitting correctly.

Halfords and other places do a fitting service as well, its free and the best thing ever, i had 3 of them out at the back of my 110CSW and i only bought the one they all agreed on

Update...

Thanks for all the advice.

Test drove the 110 to Mothercare where a very determined assistant managed to fit 2 child seats. The 2 models that fitted the low back seats securely were the Britax 123 Evolva & the Britax 1st Class.

Purchased the child seats & the 110 shorty after:)
