Can someone with a 110 CSW (pre Puma) please have a look at their second row seat mounts (3 individual seats), and see if they go through any chassis brackets? I can’t remember taking any off mine, but I don’t think they should just be bolted through the second row upstand, or is that how they are intended to be fitted?

It’s not the seatbelt mounts I’m interested in, just the seat mounts.

They do fit through brackets, from memory 4 off steel angles bolted to that channel section just behind.
Can try and get a pic if you need?

Here you go. The shiny thread you can see poking through the bracket is one of the bolts holding the seat frame to the heel panel inside. The bracket below (4 off) bolts to the top of the removable crossmember. They rot as do the brackets.

That crossmember i have is from YRM. It’s a galv version, but it only has 2 off them right angle/heel brackets. That is what made me question it. I will have a look and see if it all lines up. Thanks for the photos!

Ok. Just had another look now the ground has dried up.
There are only 2 brackets as you say welded to that crossmember.
2 more corner brackets fit either end of the crossmember and bolt to the sill channel.
The other seat mountings bolt through and on top of the heel plate and it looks like I've made my own spreader plates for those.
Hope that's clear?

Yes that’s what I thought I may have to do. I checked my old boot floor section earlier today. The old bracket location didn’t line up with the two angled pieces on the old setup.

Bringing this thread back up again. I’m about to fit the rear/boot floor, and then second row seats.

I had a measure up at the weekend, and the seat mountings I have definitely don’t line up with any chassis brackets/mounts.

I have 3 individual Exmoor trim high backs, that mounted on the original brackets for the original seats.

The workshop manual/parts catalogue is vague at how these actually mount. I know the seats “shouldn’t” take any forward forces in an impact, but I would rather they be mounted securely and know the passengers are safeish if the worst happens.

Any ideas?

I've just done something similar to you I think. Fitting new defender 2nd row seats into a 110 that had old school seat.

I was doing a fair amount of work but got an new mid x member from yrm which has four upright brackets coming off it for the two bolts on each of the feat on the seats. The back then fists into a plate (presume you have this and this in turn is mounted to the brackets underneath that fit to the chassis (again got these from YRM).

Hope this helps but let me know if you need any more pics or link to yrm part.

Isn’t that for fitting Puma seats?
