A Galaxy far far away.......
Not mentioning any names, but some silly fool has managed to put Unleaded petrol into the Hippos Diesel TD4 engine.

Now luckerly they noticed and only around 5-6 liters went in, the tank was then filled to the top with diesel, I also put 200ml of 2 stroke in just for good measure..:) As Ive been told petrol has zero lubricating properties and this causes most problems.

Now the questions is will the hippo be ok with this amount of petrol mixed with the diesel??

IMHO iI think it will be ok, but just thought I`d check...

I did it to mine... But it was a full tank of petrol that brought the car to a grinding halt. Drained the tank and replaced the fuel filter..... Then supplied the entire village with a years worth of strimmer fuel for free

we used to put a gallon or 4.55 ltrs to you in the tank in the old days before freelanders in the winter because diesel used to freeze but now do to aditives it does not freeze so much only under extree conditions so do not worry I know people who still put a gallon of petrol in with a tank of diesel hope this helps

Yep did it to mine - 6lts .... filled rest to brim with diesel. Ran it to 1/2 empty and refilled with diesel. Then ran this to virtually flat empty and refilled.... Phew. All ok.
Probably have shortened life of pump seals...ulp.....

Generally if it isn't one of the latest ultra high pressure EU4 lump (the sort normally fitted with a DPF) you won't have a problem. A modern diesel's fuel pump would probably be wrecked at great cost. Progress eh?
