Q1, Yes, spray it on everything!, be careful where you park it for the next day or so, as it will drip off a bit.

there are not only offensively stupid, they are also very often asked.

What speed do you want? 60mph is achievable in a S3. More than this you have to start thinking about stopping too

How fast can you go at the moment? In standard trim it should do over 70mph for the petrol swb, if you're struggling to do this I suggest you look at the ignition/carburettor setup. Spray oil by all means but put something under the vehicle first or use someone else's driveway 'cos it'll be messy. Wear disposable overalls, gloves and a mask too 'cos old engine oil can be toxic, irritant and carcinogeic. And don't tell the environmetalists you're polluting everywhere with old oil!

???? There seem to be two camps of series petrol drivers, those whose landys struggle to get 50mph and those who can happily get 70 to 80mph. Anyone got any ideas here?

You may have a point there. I measured an average 85dBA in mine at 60mph using a proper meter. That's not good for the ears. I SAID.......

Going back to 1964 we had a service engineer booked for doing 85mph in a Series 2a.
On way home from a breakdown at 2am, long straight downhill in built up area, used the old "Aberdeen overdrive" and was pulled by a patrol car.If they had put it over a weighbridge with all the gear and bits in the back he would never have seen daylight again. Of course the extra weight helped the speed downhill.
The good old days. What!!!

I always rub oil on any exposed metal under my fender when I'm working on it. It started off as me just wiping my hands but eventually it's built up so that most of the bottom is covered.

Waxoyl and Dimitrol are designed to stay ON the treated areas..
Old oil will, over time and due to rain, snow etc, come OFF the treated areas and cause a hazard to other road users, especially motorbikes...
Now i know some people will say, ho hum, but if a bike left a load of oil on the road causing an accident i'm sure their attitude would change.
As for speed...buy a bike lol.

yea, oil on the roads is bad for bikers, it wud **** me off badly that someone would risk so much to save a few quid, a very few quid. do it right. light coat of waxoyl every year

Well and good for the oil but what about the effect on rubber{not good}
Dont light up a fag ie smoke too soon, and not THE other!
There are better under protectors than that and they last longer eg bitumin/poly
see your accessories outlet for under seal protection.
As for the better performance just a thought check forum for different ratios dif, box,
etc.
