Hi there,
My freelander 1 has a rear passenger window fault, the window is moving a bit then there is a sound like slipping cogs & the window stops moving & may move a bit if i manually grab the glass & push it up then try again.

I have seen an excellent post in the common faults section showing the various parts etc, but i would like to know what part it is thats the problem as i hope to tackle it myself.

Any help would be much appreciated.
Many thanks
Mark.

Its most likely to be a cable that has snapped or frayed preventing the window from working properly, some people on here have made up new cables themselves or you can buy a kit from ebay that contains new cables and a spindle to wind them onto for about £15

There are no cogs and teeth on a Freelander window mechanism just cables that wind round a plastic spindle. If you have a teeth problem phone your dentist :)

Like said it will be a cable that has frayed. If you go down the route of just changing the cable then make sure you get a set with the nipples pre fixed.
We have done a few of these and have had no problems with repair.

Thanks for that, i used the word cogs to describe the sound that was made. As a mechanical engineer for over 30 years it was the best way i could describe what i was hearing & the idea was to give as much information as possible which saves your time and mine.

I understand that people enjoy tacking the **** a bit, thats usually the way on these forums so thanks again for the info,

cheers.

not by anyone that fixes them ,one of many things you where admonished for when doing my apprenticeship, it was allways a sign of ignorance
